Are you sitting comfortably?
A small group of industrious ladies in Down Ampney have embarked on a winter project – to make cushions for the pews at All Saints’ Church in the village. To be honest the pews aren’t the most comfortable and new cushioning will provide a little more comfort for those attending services, events and concerts in the church.
During the Vaughan Williams Festival, the Village Stall raised £600 selling cakes and handmade goods and this is being put towards the project – but we need about another £600 to cover the costs.
Would you like to sponsor a new red pew cushion for the church? You could do so in memory of a loved one; or to commemorate a special event. A book acknowledging donations will be made and kept in the church – we intend to embroider messages into the book as a record.
Donations of £75 for a pew cushion or £20 for a seat would be gratefully received. If you are a UK Tax Payer, please do use the Church Gift-Aid envelops. Let us know who the cushion is in memory of, or the event or occasion and this will be included in the ‘Thank you’ book in the church.
Donations can be posted into 50 Down Ampney; left in the box at the Village Shop; or given to the Vicar or to Avril Swainsbury. Thank you.
If you have machine sewing skills and would like to be part of the project please let us know.
