Down Ampney Village
LATEST COVID-19 UPDATES plus assistance/shop information
Down Ampney is a charming, historic Cotswolds village on the border of Gloucestershire with Wiltshire, England. The village is located just off the A419 which runs from Cirencester to Swindon. It is about 5 miles north of Cricklade and 5 miles south of Cirencester.
It is a vibrant, friendly, welcoming community with good transport links and facilities.
Down Ampney CofE Primary School is in the centre of the village, which still uses the original Victorian School building and has good facilities - with a new school hall, playground and sports field. There are very good secondary schools in neighbouring towns that are easy to get to. The Village Shop and post office is well stocked and run by volunteers. The Village Hall is well equipped with main hall, meeting rooms, a bar and kitchen and outside space for entertaining and good car-parking. We have a community garden/allotments; play area and tennis club with courts available year round. There are plenty of groups and activities going on in the village. There is an annual Summer Fete and Christmas Bazaar to be enjoyed. Whilst there is no pub in the village, there are plenty of excellent hostelries in neighbouring villages.
